Eastern Conference champions NC Courage U23 will host Southern Conference champions Tennessee SC at WakeMed Park on Saturday.
The Courage are the only remaining playoff team with National Semifinal experience, as the team won its second consecutive Eastern Conference title last weekend. They are looking to return to the final and get redemption after falling in last season’s championship match.
In the first two rounds, the Courage looked unstoppable. They shut out expansion side Lancaster Inferno 4-0 before defeating the Long Island Rough Riders 3-0. Their opposition seldom entered the Courage’s half, which was held down by centerbacks Kayleigh Herr and Taylor Chism. On the offensive side, Tennessee will have to look out for Ivy Garner and Hannah Jibril, who recorded goals in both matches.
Tennessee SC has battled to make its first National Semifinal appearance, coming off two 1-0 victories over AHFC Royals and Asheville City SC. The team was without a few of its key players from the regular season, but the group still dug deep to pull out the two wins.
Ryanne Molenaar and Keaton Mitchell scored the lone goals in each game; Molenaar made a run inside the box before slipping the ball far post, while Mitchell blasted a free kick from around 30 yards out. Bailie Fiore might be the biggest obstacle for the Courage’s strikers since the goalkeeper made multiple incredible saves to preserve both shutouts.

Detroit City FC will host its third postseason match at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday against Western Conference champions Colorado Storm.
Detroit City has looked better and better as the season progresses, and the team has had the added advantage of playing these playoff matches at home, where it is 8-0-0 this summer. Le Rouge earned its first Conference title after defeating the reigning champs Indy Eleven in a come-from-behind 3-1 win on Sunday.
To say Detroit City is well-rounded would be an understatement. Gabrielle Schriver has been one of the best goalkeepers in the W League this season. Outside back Ella Offer can make runs up the flanks and send in dangerous crosses but will also track all the way back to defend. And if Emily Pagett or Sophia Romine are allowed time and space in the midfield, chances are the ball is ending up in the back of the net.
Colorado Storm has surprised everyone with what it has accomplished in its first season in the league. The Storm dominated the Mountain Division in the regular season, then it came out and trounced the experienced sides of California Storm and FC Olympia to take the Western Conference title.
If Colorado Storm wants to become the first team to take down Detroit City at Keyworth Stadium, it will need to rely on the finishing expertise of Reese McDermott and Amy Smith. Midfielder Alexis Meyer is extremely quick and strong on the ball and plays great balls into space for her teammates. Not to mention the team’s strong defense, led by centerbacks Avery Vander Ven and Hannah Gallegos and goalkeeper Adelyn Todd, that only allowed four goals all season.
