The 2024 W League regular season might be inching towards the end, but the competition is still at an all-time high. Two clubs have already clinched their playoff spots, while some stellar performances last week helped other teams get one step closer to their own postseason berths. Here’s a look at some top storylines as we head into Week 7:

Secured the crown

Florida Elite Soccer Academy and AHFC Royals became the first two clubs last week to clinch their spot in the 2024 W League Playoffs. Florida Elite went a perfect 10-0-0 with a +60 goal differential to claim the Southeast Division title. AHFC Royals have also remained undefeated during their inaugural season with the W League and went 8-0-0 to earn the Lone Star Division crown.

Minestrella masterclass

San Francisco Glens SC moved back to the top of the tough NorCal Division after earning a huge win on Sunday against Pleasanton Rage. Duke forward Mia Minestrella was unstoppable and scored five goals – three within 10 minutes – to help the team defend its home field. The Glens (7-1-0) now hold a narrow one-point lead over California Storm with four matches remaining.

Heating up in Heartland

Minnesota Aurora (6-0-2) and River Light FC (6-2-1) are neck-and-neck for the top two spots in the Heartland Division, which could snag the wild card bid for the Central Conference. Both teams had huge wins on Sunday; six different players found the back of the net for Aurora, while River Light had its biggest win of the season against RKC Third Coast. Both teams also know how to entertain the crowds, as they got creative with the goal celebrations.

Haiti in the house

Stars continue to make guest appearances at W League matches this season, the latest being Melchie Dumornay from the Haitian national team and French club Olympique Lyonnais Féminin. Dumornay came to support her Haitian teammate and Miami AC goalkeeper Kerly Theus in the team's win over TLH Reckoning. The pair played together last summer at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
