There’s a full slate of W League matches on the schedule for this weekend as we move closer to the end of the regular season. Here are four matchups that could have huge playoff implications: 

• Morris Elite SC vs Long Island Rough Riders – Who will take control of Metropolitan Division? 

• Eagle FC vs Richmond Ivy SC – Will Eagle FC remain undefeated? 

• AHFC Royals vs San Antonio Athenians SC – Royals look to clinch playoff berth 

• Detroit City FC vs Midwest United FC – battle for Great Lakes top spot

New Jersey vs New York 

Morris Elite and Long Island are both coming into this weekend with 19 points after going 6-0-1 through seven matches. However, Morris Elite has the edge with goal differential and sits in first place in the Metropolitan Division. This is the first of two meetings this season between the storied rivals, so who will take the series lead and possession of the division?

Mid-Atlantic Mayhem 

Eagle FC (6-0-1) has looked strong all season and is pushing toward another playoff appearance. It will host fourth-place Richmond Ivy, which is coming in with some momentum after earning a huge win on Thursday. The top five teams in the Mid-Atlantic Division are all within six points of each other, so the outcome of this match could shake up the standings.

Royals in reach of the crown 

AHFC Royals are one match away from clinching the Lone Star Division title and earning their spot in the playoffs. The Houston-based team has come in and dominated its first season in the W League, scoring 29 goals and earning seven straight wins. They will host San Antonio Athenians on Saturday with hopes of securing a postseason spot in front of their home crowd.

Greater than the rest 

Detroit City (5-0-2) has led the Great Lakes Division nearly all season, but not far behind is Midwest United (5-2-0). Both teams are hungry for a win; Detroit is coming off a scoreless draw against Cleveland Force SC, and Midwest United fell 2-0 to Kalamazoo FC on Thursday. The two clubs are bringing years of history to Saturday’s match, which is the first of two between them this season. Who will come out on top this time?
