Multiple USL W League players were recently called up to represent eight different nations for the FIFA international window running from May 27-June 4. Five alums will be representing the United States, while 13 current players will join various squads for upcoming friendlies. 

Hal Hershfelt became the first modern-era W League alum to be called up to the U.S. women’s senior national team, which she will be joining for its June training camp. Hershfelt played for Greenville Liberty and Indy Eleven before she was drafted fifth overall in the 2024 NWSL Draft. 

The U.S. U-20 women’s youth national team will include multiple W League players and alums after it announced its roster for two upcoming friendlies against Korea Republic. The roster included four former and three current W League players, all from seven different clubs. 

Jamaica, El Salvador, Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Singapore and Haiti are the six other countries that will feature players from the W League. Two notable appearances are Kameron Simmonds (Richmond Ivy) and Kerly Theus (Miami AC), who will rejoin Jamaica and Haiti’s senior squads after both spent last summer playing in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
